I gather that the great Oliver Postgate was against broadcasting the episode in which an astronaut lands on the Clangers' planet just before the (or at least a) moon landing just in case the moonshot ended badly making the clangers seem in very poort taste - but they went ahead anyway, but all was well.

(i am old enough to remember the moon landings and recall the Clangers episode being a particularly good one)

Well young 'un. I did sit up and was totally wiped out all the next day at work because I'd had less than 2 hours sleep. Couldn't help smiling though!

It says an awful lot about Armstrong's absolute cool-as-a-cucumber-ness that that's not exactly how it went down. The man was totally unflappable in a crisis.

About as 'hilarious' as a cup of cold sick, sorry.

My Dad was 20something, and went to bed because he thought there would be other more important missions in the future.
