My Mum and I were befriended on a train once, by a bunch of Leicester Tigers supporters, after Tigers lost to Bath in the final of the Heineken cup. They were all rather sozzled, but being rugby fans, very polite. They made room for us to sit together on a train that only had odd single seats left. Somewhere near Kettering, te guard announced that the bar had run out, and there was a groan. As we approached Market Harborough one got up to get off, and asked my Mum if she thought his wife would be very cross that he was 2 hours later getting home than he'd planned. She said he'd probably be alright with enough apology, whereupon he said that it wasn't so much his wife, as the eight dinner guests...
When we got to Leicester, they invited us to join them for a curry, but we declined. Although it might have been rather fun...
