Just claim you inherited some sprawling estate in Scotland and that you are now a Laird.
The sort of thing that my eldest lad would do at any reunion.
He likes to be 'the lad' and brags endlessly about himself and his 'achievements'; he's a trucker.
He inherits this attitude from his mother who he latterly hated, but I've not told him - yet.

Just say you are the records clerk at the local sexual transmitted diseases clinic and given folk a knowing look.

An old flame from 30yrs ago, has moved back to my sister's neighbourhood...
She never married and is very old fashioned.
I'm sure I'll bump into her!

The Dog & Parrot in Newcastle where I spent many formative adult years, both working and boozing, has been ruined. It's still a "rock bar", but has had the soul ripped out of it.

I'm glad that it's still there and other people like it, but I suppose it's changed too much, and I haven't.

I haven't chickened out of going to the school reunion this coming Saturday, but I have been having doubts/worries about going on my own, then walking into the pub, feeling a bit nervy.🙄 So I messaged the one who seems to have organised it, asking if she or someone else could meet me at the door, so I won't feel so 'alone'. She said she will meet me and has given me her phone number, telling me to phone her when I'm outside. I hope it won't be too noisy where she cant hear her phone, which has happened in other such cases. I hate walking into such events on my own, so I feel a bit better now!😉

I know how you feel - I hate going to things like that on my own and having to walk in and spot the people I am supposed to be meeting

When I went to the school reunion I didn;t even know what they would look like after over 40 years!!!

Luckily we had a WhatsApp group about it and I used that to get an idea of who to look for
Luckily the person I knew best looks just the same as he used to (bar steward!!!) only grey
and there were 2 twins that have not changed much either

and a total maniac that I alwasy got on with who spotted me and yelled - which helped

but looking around a strange pub for people is not one of my strong points

so you have my sympathy - good idea to recruit a guide!!!
