My late father's favorite outfitters. Also about the last place that stocked a good selection of decent hats. :okay:

I'm 63. For the last fifteen years - ever since I took up cycling with a passion - I have endeavoured to prefect a track stand. I generally come close, but in the main, I have felt I resembled a child's top about to unwind and fall over. Today (after a lunchtime visit to my favourite pub and three pints of Three Sods Dark Magnus stout at 4.7% - well recommended), I found myself at the traffic lights nearby to my home on Patsy #3 The Hybrid and twisted the handle bars more to one side than usual. It seemed like I was a statue. One not lightly to be toppled over. Now, it may have been a state of Zen; slightly drunken hubris; or I might just have started to achieve the muscle memory to use the technique. I don't care - I believe I have learnt something.
Now all I want to do is discover how to do a wheelie .... ^_^
How about you? What have you learnt recently?

I'm impressed, but what we really need to know is have you tried it again sober, and was it as successful.

I learnt to track stand when I was about 14, but what I have also learnt is that if I'm properly pished, I can't.

I can track stand for a reasonable length of time if there's a bit of a slope, but only for a few seconds on the flat, just need to practice. I'm very bad at one hand riding, though and can't ride no hands, maybe I should make it something to be able to do before I turn 50 next year.

I managed to ride my Brommie 'No-handed' today for the first time.
cripes - wouldn't dream of trying that on mine.
I have never ridden one, but I pushed someone else's out of the Town Hall cafe in Hebden Bridge and was a bit alarmed by how unstable steering it felt! I assume that they handle better when actually riding them?

They ride fine.
With hands on bars.

For some reason I can indicate right on my brommie, but get a bit wobbly if I take my left hand off the bars.

I'd like to be able to trackstand - it might actually be useful. But I'm not sure whether it would be worth spending time which would inevitably result in failure.

Wheelies (on the Brompton of course) that would be good, if less useful. Ditto bunny hops.
