Question for you techy people please. I've just bought a new android TV box. On the home screen there's a native App called Live TV. Great, I thought, watch the snooker without going into iPlayer. But it was IPTV and had every channel on there possible. I mean, red bull TV, ESPN, sky1, and what looked like every regional channel in the US. Plus Discovery channel and WWE, UFC etc.

How is it doing that? I thought they were all paid for subscription channels? Has it been side loaded with a dodgy all-access server connection or something?

Edited to add: it was new from Amazon

Anything to do with Prime, given it's from Amazon.

It's probably a "dodgy box" if you can get onto the subscription chanels.

Weird. All I can think is that someone bought it, logged in/hacked it, then returned it without logging out of IPTV. Either that or it comes that way out of the box as a way of the manufacturer selling more units?

Psst, comes out of the box that way. The bizzies will be round later.

Well we won't watch it much as it's in our garden room which is only oaccasionally used for Netflix, Prime and Disney. But if we get a letter from our ISP then I'll know what it's for. My mate got one of those letters once when he was getting films from bit torrent and didn't delete them from his sharing folder, so was in effect distributing them. But I am a technophobe so as far as I know these new boxes are all like that

Ok. Well I have returned it today anyway. Lots of Apps don't work properly, and it seems to be running Android 3.
