New avid bb7's

I'm planning on buying some avid bb7's along with new brake levers. I've never replaced brakes on my bikes and the problem is that my original levers are attached to the gear shift...this normal and if not...how do i attach new levers?

If the levers attached to the shifters are not compatible with your new brakes then you'll need to buy new shifters and levers.

quite normal - know as STI Shimano Total Integration - where the brake levers (usedto be V brake but now availalbe in disc brake) and gear shifters are one piece.

You would need to buy new separate shifters.

You can't split the levers. You've either got to use your existing brake levers or buy new gear levers.
