Hi to all,

I need some advice on buying a new road bike with a budget £2000 but could stretch a little more.

The two bikes i am looking at are the Cervelo S3 & the Canyon ultimate cf six 8.0.

These bikes are just out of my price range but was thinking of waiting until they come down in price.

Anyone know if the 2017 models will come down in price. Sounds like winter would be the cheapest time to buy a bike can anyone confirm that?

Has anyone any other bikes suggestions i should consider.

Thank you

Chris

They are probably reduced already if they are going to be, odd sizes might be reduced more in the new year

Canyon prices are volatile due to the exchange rates

What sort of bike are you actually looking for? Racy? Endurance? Disc or V brakes? Carbon? Alu? Steel? Ti? Ok with buying online or prefer a shop (where do you live?), are there any brands you don't like?

Have you ridden any?

Vickster - In my mind it should be Endurance don't mind disc or V brakes but defo Carbon and online seems to have the better deals. Live in Bristol my next job is to go and visit a couple of shops to get an idea of deals they can offer.
I haven't a preference on brands my current bike is a Giant Defy which seems I've had for years. its been an amazing bike.

I haven't ridden any yet but have plenty of time.

Apologies don't want to buy Boardman.

Boardman do some very nice bikes at around that price point in the Elite / SLR ranges

At £1800, https://www.boardmanbikes.com/gb_en/products/875-road-pro-carbon-slr.html

Or at £1899 (reduced from £2099), https://www.boardmanbikes.com/gb_en/products/242-slr-9.2-endurance.html
Good options, and you can testride at Cycle republic
https://www.cyclerepublic.com/stores-finder

And save 10% at Halfords if you spend £37 joining British cycling or whatever it is now

A mate recently bought a second hand S3 that the seller had done one triathlon on but he didn't get on with it. Upgraded saddle, spare aero rear wheel (with tyre and cassette) etc for just £850...

Cheers Dave looks like going to look at the Cannondale. Sounds as if the S3 is not what I'm looking for looks nice though!

Spend some money and get a bike fit, then choose your beast. No point spending a wodge of cash if it doesn't feel right.

However most bike fits, especially the ones done by a Physio, need a bike to fit you to. Get the right frame size, then the fit can determine if you need narrower bars, shorter stem etc. Personally I don’t place much faith in the ones done on a jig by a chap from an LBS who has done a weekend course but has no MSK training

I would talk to the guys at Sublime Cycles. They use open mould frames, but with custom paint jobs to your spec, and build the bike to your specification (groupset, wheels, etc). They are Bristol-based and Greg from Bomber Bikeworks builds up their bikes.
I recently bought a bike from them (someone else's bike they didn't want in the end), and it's absolutely brilliant.
