Was looking for a light tourer for day rides in the Peaks, considered the EBC bikes and the Raleigh Royal. Found this brand new 2010 Defy 4 Triple for a bargain £330.

Comes with rack and mudguard mounts and is 4kg lighter than the Raleigh Royal.

That certainly looks like a bargain to me; and a real nice looking bike!

You could pay that for a used bike.

Defy a Bargain.

Looks like you got a bargain ;)

p.s. you need to sort that skirting so it's snug to the fireplace

Very nice bike and at a great price. My LBS told me that they were a better spec'd bike than the 2011 version for less money at teh original cost so that is a steal.

i have the 2010 Rapid, although i changed the flat bar to drops eventually and have not been disapointed with it at all.

if you ahve the kenda tyres, change them for something a little more robust, they were a little fragile for autumn/winter riding.

enjoy

Uphillstruggler, how did you get on changing the Giant rapid to drop bars ?

I have the Giant FCR 3, and have looked into this, but 8-speed brake/shifte levers seem 1. hard to find and 2. very expensive !

i bought the shifters from a chap on here, bars from a sale (planet x i think but i cant remember in truth), cables, cable outers and barrel adjusters from the LBS.

when i was looking, i found that the difficult part was the triple changer, there were lots of double shifters for sale but few triples.

i think i did it for about 80-90 quid. should have gone for the Defy in the first place, but you live and learn.

Thanks for that, that's what I'm feeling now really. flat bar is a compromise. Sorry to hijack the thread !

I sold a Carrera Gryphon flat bar road bike to buy the Defy, numb hands all the time, even when I fitted ergo grips and stubbies. Drop bars are much comfier
