Last one , it was a visual check for scratches etc.
I don't have a clue about most of the mechanical stuff, but got it checked over by a mechanic a couple of days later.

No problems

I thoroughly check the paintwork and kit isn’t marked or scratched/scraped and then check the mechanicals are right, like brakes are adjusted correctly and shifting is perfect. That’s down to the shop to make sure on collection.

I enjoy the faces being pulled and try and replicate them when paying cash, at the exact point where they test the bank notes are real. ;)

Ha ha, try paying with a wad of 50's, nobody complains when they check them. :okay:

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Thinking back over the years I realise I've only ever bought one bike fully assembled from a bike shop - and I can't really remember, though I think I gave it a somewhat brief inspection in the shop. All the others I've built myself, have been second hand, or bought online - and I do check them over very thoroughly when they come out of the box! I would ALWAYS check the frame, the set up, tightness of bolts, brakes, gears operation, grease on seatpost, QRs, pedal threads etc. etc. NEVER just jump on and ride.

I'm not so precious about things . Bikes are toys and will get marks , if its happened while building it then no one did it on purpose . obviously if there was a massive scratch or major default then i would pull it up but ......
