As many may remember, I used to have a couple of Kickbikes. One of them went to a collegues daughter, who took a shine to it. The other went to a guy in the village who is going to do a 150km race in Iceland with his dog pulling him.

But its like everything. You get rid of something that you do not use and shortly afterwards, you want to use it. 😉

So I made a change from Kickbike and ordered a Yedoo Trexx from the Czech Republic.

I will be setting up with some bags to do some light touring with overnight stops.

I do Conqueror Virtual Challenges (Google it). I have set myself 161km tour of the Norwegian Fjords on my scooter, just too get the ball rolling. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get my scooter legs back. 😁

Very cool thing

Just wondering - when it comes to "no cycling" places - like high streets - how does that work with one of those?

trying to talk to a rent-a-cop in a uniform that is trying to give you a ticket for "riding a bike" when you are on one of those could be interesting/fun/funny

If being a"well actually" smartarse is your calling then it could be. I suspect that one of these is a "cycle" but not a "pedal cycle" cos it ain't got pedals.

All uphill

I'm always interested in new-to-me human powered machines.

How do these compare with pedal bikes in terms of covering distance?

Can you scoot up a 10% gradient?

I once had an unfixable problem with my bike a few kms from home so I scooted back with my right foot clipped onto the left pedal. I was shocked by how hard it felt compared to cycling that route!

I had that when the bolt holding my saddle in place broke

I thought I would be OK - just scoot back

WAY harder than it looks!
tried riding standing on the pedals for a bit but that was worse!

Showing my ignorance, is that not a posh version of the scooters we had 70 years ago?

Thats a bit like asking if the bike in your garage is a posh version of the 1880s bike. But yes the scooter is a posh version of the 1970s scooter. There are touring versions, racing versions, off road versions. They are quite popular in Germany and Holland.

Got you. So, you stand on it 'one footed' and push on the ground with the other. For me that would be stand on my right leg and push with my left (im right handed but have to do some things left handed).
Ours had a 'u' shaped bracket at the back you pushed with your dominant foot for braking... yours has proper rim brakes.
As you suggest, same idea but worlds apart.

According to the link above you keep changing pushing foot every 3-10 scoots.

I imagine that over any significant distance relying on one foot would be uncomfortable and possibly all that asymmetric strain would not be good for you.

Indeed. What they need is some kind of mechanical arrangement that allows the lower linbs to do equal work, perhaps using pedals connected by a chain or cranks to the drive wheel? If only there existed such a thing.
