Indeed. What they need is some kind of mechanical arrangement that allows the lower linbs to do equal work, perhaps using pedals connected by a chain or cranks to the drive wheel? If only there existed such a thing.

But as you know, I am retired and getting old now.

As you get older, you regress. So I am moving away from my very modern e bike, passing my Koga World Traveller, Brompton, lovely gravel bikes. I am now at the scooter stage and will shortly be at my final destination. 😄

Got you. So, you stand on it 'one footed' and push on the ground with the other. For me that would be stand on my right leg and push with my left (im right handed but have to do some things left handed).
Ours had a 'u' shaped bracket at the back you pushed with your dominant foot for braking... yours has proper rim brakes.
As you suggest, same idea but worlds apart.

How did your dad ever teach you to ride a bike 😁😁

I'm always interested in new-to-me human powered machines.

How do these compare with pedal bikes in terms of covering distance?

Can you scoot up a 10% gradient?

It depends how you ride them. For me, they are slower on the flat, just as fast as a bike downhill and easier to get off and walk uphill than a bike. I can ride 200km a day on a bike. Can I do it on a scooter? I do not know, it will be a challenge. It is just another way of testing myself and also slowing the pace down.
