my new bike is 2 weeks old. i have been on 4 spins on it so far. today i notice there is pinging coming from rear wheel. the wheel is slightly out of true. there is some spokes that seem to be slughtly loose. is it normal for wheels to bed in like this ?
i am going to get both wheels trued and tensioned next week , would this be required already ?

approx 200km on wheels at moment .

Yes. The pings will be caused by the spokes untwisting themselves (they sometimes get twisted when tightening up the spokes and usually the wheel builder will stress the wheels beforehand to overcome this problem).

Even the best built wheel may need a service after a 200 milles or so.

Hi
Agree with the accountant.
Common when new... and common when old!
The rear's tend to ping most because of the extra drive load going through them. It should settle down. If they carry-on then a trip to a good bike shop might be in order.

My oldest wheels started pinging last winter but a quick tweak of the spokes showed that it was due to a few of them becoming notably slack.

the best built wheels won't need attention
- if they've been stress relieved properly they'll be OK until a ford escort hits them from the side  or some similar thing that they're not designed to take.
if they haven't been stress relieved, then they don't fall into the category of the best built wheels.

to the OP, take it back to the shop, they'll do it for free.

basic bike or not, i'm sure that the retailer would happily tweak them if they're failing after two weeks.
