New Camera On Order!!!

Hi All. Rather excited because……
I’ve just ordered a new ATC3K Action Cam and a couple of 4gb SD cards – any tips from “the professionals” (Mags/Mikey et al) or any requests??? Should I attache it to the bike or my head???

I work in video production and was thinking my first video would be a split screen number comparing my commute using the road one day and then using the cycle “facilities” on another – to illustrate how the “facilities” are much slower and inconvenient etc. Would also like to make a related title: “The Rubbish Cycling Facilities of Richmond and Twickenham” – need I say more. Also looking forward to capturing the occasional rubbish driver we all sometimes encounter – watch this space!!!

Thanks to Paul Jones, andyb000, ismike, magnatom, Tuneaftertune, cenjui and all the others who post their video’s on youtube – just an idea, but could we compile a list of all cyclists who post their videos on that site?

I've ordered mine from Catrike UK - It's a great deal! Mine has been posted today. I'm looking forward to using it.

Great idea, would be interesting to see. That would be too technical for me to do.

My tip, get the POV.1 instead....

Seriously though, good man. For the price it is an excellent piece of kit. I had mine on my helmet, to the side. It worked for me, but my commute is fairly short and I have exceptionally strong neck muscles! If you are to have it on your helmet, probably best to place it on top. It will be very visible though!

The difficult thing with the ATC is aiming it correctly. Until you get used to it, one day you will have too much sky, the next to tarmac. It comes with practice.

Finally, I should point out, that you will no longer get a Christmas card from catrike.....:biggrin:

Dont forget that if you do mount it on the top of the helmet, you have to put it near the rear half and flat. I dont know about you but i tend to tilt my head down whilst riding and you wouldnt wanna film the floor.

You could always put a light on the top and right next to it, that way you could tell by the spot light where the camera was pointing. Although this wouldnt be practical during the day. But just an idea...

Hey mags, do you have a laser pen/snipers laser attached to your archos cam for pin-point-target-filming accuracy?? ;)

I've put mine back on the handlebars. I had it on the helmet for a while but found it was somewhat heavy and I felt like a plonker. Plus I got annoyed having to rotate the video image on Windows Movie Maker. I had a habit of somehow not rotating a couple of frames and the video playback, was well, interesting!

What camera are you using if you had to rotate footage?? Im using a atc2k with that camera instead of rotating footage the camera can be rotated within the mount.

I never notice the weight of the camera when cycling

Heres how I mounted mine, the red stuff is what I used to adjust the angle of the camera so it captures the whole lane rather than pointing with the curve of the helmet.

what DVR are you guys using ? is it just a videocam M or are you using a solid state DVR and downloading the footage later onto PC ?
I've just bought a wireless DVR which is small and light and you can put it anywhere on you or the bike so yo just need a tiny wireless bulletcam on your helmet or the handlebars .
DVR like this one

I didn't - sorry - but where is your shop?

I am in Rochester in Kent but I post things out as well. I just started doing cameras and have done a special deal for Cyclechat users, a couple of people here have bought from me now.

Duh! I hadn't thought of doing that.......
I'd just clipped the camera on the mount without thinking you could rotate the camera like that (in the same place yours is funnily enough - it's an ATC2K),
