Typically, it's Persians, Bengals, Sphynx and Siamese / Orientals that are the breeds which end up in rescue because people haven't done their research or are looking for a status cat because a celebrity has got one.

I'm on several waiting lists for a rescue Siamese or Oriental (tortie point or tortie respectively) but so far nothing suitable has come up.

I'd love a Bengal !

I'd love a Bengal !

They're stunning cats, BUT...

1) They can have temperament issues. Not all breeders breed for temperament

2) They can be prone to digestive issues, so often need a specialized diet

3) They are very active and intelligent cats - if bored or confined, can be destructive and can develop temperament issues

4) They are very vocal

5) They love water, so be prepared for that

Might not work with a ginger ninja (Leo) and three crazy ragdolls (as in don't give a flip). Leo won't approve.

They’re very special aren’t they. I’ve never felt such a close bond with any of my pets, cat or dog, as I have with Molly. Can’t believe she’s 8 already. Seems like only yesterday she was a kitten.

They just have wonderful personalities. I will admit I prefer more moderate cats appearance-wise, but I love that chatty, interactive, persistent and slightly bonkers attitude that they have.

Unfortunately most of the cats I've been offered haven't been right for me, and the one that was, the owner backtracked after all the paperwork was completed.

However, one of those cats (a lilac-based caramel tortie) found a home with the friend who went with me to view her. Mia is as mad as a box of frogs, and is a right kleptokitty. If something's missing, you go and look in her bed. And that's everything from toast to dressing gowns!

More than likely not. I think you'll end up with irresistible force meets immovable object if you get a pushy one.

One of my usual till ladies in Tesco has two Bengals (siblings). The boy is lovely and outgoing and quite assertive, whereas the girl is terrified of her own shadow.

Rescue cats are the best 🥰
So happy to find their forever home, where their new servants provide all the love and comforts they’ve never known.
Our two are such characters and we’re blessed to have them.
Completely agree.
Seven of ours are rescue and t'other a stray who turned up, scarred, scared and un neutered one day eight years ago and decided we fitted his idea of the right staff for his needs - ! ^_^
