About time I bought some new clothes for cycling, especially in the rain and wet.

So I'm looking for a breathable waterproof jacket that'll keep me warm and cool.

New shoes, never bought 'proper' cycling shoes before. I've only worn normal trainers and tuck the laces in the trainers. I'm riding on the road with some offroading.

Trousers? Only worn jogging pants and tuck them into my socks.
I have been wearing some padded shorts 10 years ago, but I can't fit into them now, so I want to lose weight before I can wear them, and I'm not buying any more.

Any advice?
I don't want to spend a great deal on these. I'ts a bit late in deciding I want to buy some now since I'll be in Scotland at this time next week. I'll be going into a cycling shop to hire a bike (not for me), so I'll be looking around.

Aldi have kit in at the moment with is gvfm for reasonable quality cycle specific clothing.

I'm just waiting until the pocket allows then I'm getting some shimano mtb shoes, pedals and cleats.

All can be had from £70 but I'm just starting out and it's been costly buying the basics in the short period of time.

www.cycle-clothing.co.uk have some good deals. Cheap waterproofs are rarely breathable

I use one of these in heavy rain, it probably is a bit sweaty but as I get really cold when wet I'd rather be dry and warm, if a tad sweaty

It packs into a small pouch in its back

Not sure how a jacket can keep you warm and cool at the same time...warm and dry and not boil in the bag perhaps?

Montane featherlite velo H2) always gets decent feedback but not that easy to come by and around £60+

Could I buy some cycling shoes with straps and no laces on even though I have no intention of using clip-ons?

I'm fed up having to put the laces in my trainers every time I go cycling!!!!

Thank you for the links. I might buy something from Cycle Clothing, they seem to be cheap enough

I'm looking on Cycle Clothing for some new shorts and/or trousers(tights)

But I'm not sure if I want tights or not, but I'm also fed up with putting my jogging pants into my socks. What do people think?

Are leg warmers waterproof?

Also I'm still unsure what footwear I should wear.

Arm and legwarmers are not usually waterproof , if you want to keep your jogging bottoms just get some ankle clips ? or i use ron hill bikesters in the winter rather than tights as they look like running bottoms that are narrow at the ankle with a foot strap to stop it flapping but are cut higher at the back to stop builders bum on the bike.

What shoe size are you? I have a pair of Northwave cycling shoes that the cleat kept moving on so I decided not to use them but have still got the sole plate so they would make decent cycling shoe still but not with cleats. Laces and a velcro strap and very comfy just not needed.
