When I suggested Jo Brand would make an excellent Doctor a while back, someone said that it would interfere with the 'genetic make-up' (or whatever) thus making it impossible for a female to become the Doctor!

I did give Smith and Capaldi a try, but after Eccleston (good) and then Tennant (brilliant), their characters didn't work for me.
So, will her sidekick be a bloke??

the mother of the victim and wife of one of the key suspects in each series. That was a fairly passive character (even when she became the rape counsellor in the third series), so I hope she's able to transcend the passive-victim trope

- The Doctor has always been an influencer, and it would be a shame if the first female Doctor was less instrumental than previous occupants of the role.
