Any bright ideas on how to help a baby with a cold? Appalling mother that I am, Arthur has a cold already and he's all snuffly.
Stop that! Arthur will get colds and stuff regularly for the next, well, for ever, and it won't be your fault!
In fact, come time he goes to nursery, he'll pass on every bug going to you...
My Mum made us Christmas Stockings when we were little - very basic, two sock shapes cut out of corduroy, sewn together with some ribbon edging and a little pocket on the front, so there was always one more tiny pressie to find - it kept us quiet until after breakfast when we were set loose on the big presents. We were still getting those stockings well into adulthood...
Before that we had one of my Dad's socks each, one year we each got a little tiny mouse dolly (in frilly dress), and mine was poking its head out of the hole in the toe....
A special decoration is a nice idea - it can be his to hang on the tree every year.
