Hi Alex, i dont know how you and others ride fixed geared bikes, i take my hat off to you all! Ive been out cycling a couple of times with a club and a couple of chaps had fixed geared bikes, how they got up the hills amazed me, im lost without the 'granny ring'..... (insert rude pun about granny ring)lol

Hi I am new to this forum...

Used to go on LFGSS.com but they are so snobby about your bikes!

I am building a singlespeed bike, I have done a diary blog of it online, take a look! http://buildingabicycle.tumblr.com/

It is probable a bit late now. But I had the same seat post sticking, a ally tube in a steel frame my answer was,
bring bike as close to the house as allowed bring the kettle and its lead to the nearest power point to the bike.
Put a dish cloth around the frame at the seat post tap it up so it can't fall off leaving you with both hands free. Boil the kettle
then pore the boiling water slowly over the dish cloth, this wil expand the frame tub allowing you to turn the saddle
or gently tap the saddle clamp and hey presto it was off.

Now as your in Wiltshire are you near me in Warminster?
