The sweat I produce knackers them. I run several at the same time (not literally!) and throw them when they look knackered and all the padding is falling apart. Once I find one I like size wise (currently Giro Atmos) I buy a one in for future usage

Got to realising today that my current Giro skid-top is coming nine years old. Suggested replacement age is 3 apparently, which in think is daft and OTT. Looks perfectly fine but could be degraded by age at this stage despite being stored in its original box. However, my bonce is worth more so I ordered new today. What does anyone else do for these types of time related replacements?
How to dispose of the old one?

This analysis found that the tested helmets' impact attenuation properties did not degrade with age:

http://biomechanical.asmedigitalcollection.asme.org/article.aspx?articleid=2497744

and

https://helmets.org/up1505a.htm

This suggests that you could continue with your current Giro.
Have you ever dropped it or banged it heavily etc?

If you still want to get rid of it, search for an EPS recycler in your area.

No bangs, dents or otherwise! New one en route!
