New helmet for road use.

I was hoping someone might mention the catlike whisper helmets , any opinions on them as I'm thinking of placing an order.

I wanted one till I tried it on, and it left a painful dent in my forehead - just did not fit my head shape.

I tried one on, i looked a prat (well even more than normal)

just didnt fit me, nor do Kask.

I'd have to get one if I was still competing, but as I'm not...then the air flows free over the skin top. Though if you feel the need for one, then I'm sure someone will suggest a suitable item and help you dispose of many £££s. Important it actually fits head shape though, the wrong shell would be an expensive and painful error.

Thanks for your comments thus far, I currently have a specialized echelon which I find a bit heavy on occasions. My second/third picks are either the giro ionos or the specialized prospero 2, any thoughts on these if the catlike' s a no go. Ideally I'm after a lighter helmet.

I recently got the Specialized S3 when my Align got smashed & I thoroughly recommend it as a light weight, well ventilated helmet with a good adjustment mechanism.

I've seen them over here so I will have a look after the bank holiday..

The prevail is 185g, the Kask Mojito is 220g

I'm down the Spec shop next week so I will have a look at one of those too..

I'm flying back to the UK on May 1st to put a deposit down on a house back in the UK, so I will try the Kask's over there as I cant find a stockist over here?

1. It must fit your head shape
2. It must fasten securely
3. When fastened it must be comfortable
4. Have either ANSI or Snell ratings
5. As few protrusions and "snag points as possible"

Now you can think about matching it to your bike and clothes

Just looked on Cyclesurgery web site as they would be the nearest to me and they only do medium or large, so is the medium the smallest they do..
My other helmets have all been 48/55 size?

Had a look at the specialized propero that 214 and half the price of the prevail might also be worth checking out.

Can recommend the Specialized S3. Husband uses Specialized Propero II and likes it, although it's a little heavier than the S3.
