New Iron man challenge

Can you beat this little cycle-camp ride & swim?

I have just finished a cycle-camp trip from Manchester to Aberdaron, in the land of far far far away.

A place of legend and mythical beasts: not all of them on the Camp-site.

In Aberdaron, because I consider myself a pilgrim, I demanded vitals in the old pilgrims kitchen.

It's a café, a quaint Black & White building with Blue & White porcelain, a tourist trap yes, but a good breakfast worthy of a mention.

Across the road, the buzz in the local Spar was that, a cyclist had just cycled down from Chester in 9 hours, then swam out to Bardsey Island.

“Well” anybody can swim out to Bardsey Island it’s only 4 miles!

But cycling down in 9 hours? I came around the coast on route 5 then 8 and with sand, gravel, dogs, and holidaymakers on the path it’s imposable this way.

Can anybody think of a possible route, and do you think you can beat it.

But do not forget that you will have weight to carry!

well the direct coastal route from Chester is 103 miles so do-able easily for a fit roadie on a fast bike. Even I could manage that. Not that I would choose to

I do a lot of sea swimming (triathlons with first IM next year). The map shows that in fact the closest point from mainland to the island is 2.93km, so 6km/4 miles round trip. No idea what the currents are like, but that is still a fair haul, and I would personally want a tri wetsuit. And some company for safety if not a boat for food.

I suspect that people have done the swim there and back but doubt it was "Chester by bike then swim to the island"

Is this what is meant by junk food?
