Yup, I've seen some camera surveys and they can actually be strangely entertaining

We had one done here last year, it was fascinating, we knew we had drain, but we cold not work out where the access point was, so they shoved the camera down, and eventually found out that the access was on the other side of the road covered by gravel. Clever stuff. You don't 'arf see some shite on those TV's don't ya.

Good luck!

Planning a career change here too, and it's good to know I'm not alone.

I'm just like @pauldavid. I have a job that i, mostly, hate.

The work is boring. My prospects are zero. Many of the leaders are beneath contempt. And i have to drive there.
But i have a mortgage and family.

I want to find a new job, but it's all a bit daunting. Well done to the OP for making the break.

Good luck with the new career.
Drains, and the stuff in them, can be fun and interesting. I've done a lot of drain work in and around my house and though being up to my arm pit in poo was unpleasant the overall 'getting the drains working right' and repairing broken sections was quite fun.

TBH I'm pretty nervous, especially now I've got a copy of the LGV Theory Test to learn .
It's not too bad. I did my C+E a while ago*. The most awkward bit of theory is around the tachograph and drivers working hours.
The scariest thing was the emergency stop. I thought the whole cab was going to tip up and the sleeping bunk was going to hit me on the back of the head!

*I don't have my licence as my test was rendered void when I 'sacked' the examiner for not knowing the law and asking me to carry out an illegal maneuver on my test. The examiner tried to fail me but DVLA suspended the examiner, and his supervisor, for retraining instead. I never did get around to retaking it.

We are supposed to be having one done last week - but they couldn't find the manhole cover. We have since found it and so they are coming back in a week or two's time.

Last week, a Norwegian girl I work with just would not believe that we call a manhole, well, a manhole!

I suppose the 'correct' term nowadays would be a person aperture

Best of luck with the career change Smokey, having so many different things to do within your jobs sounds great especially the getting out and about, beats an office any day in my opinion too .
