Hi from another old g-t ! As above I would think seriously about a road bike. It doesn't have to be razor edge tyres full of helium saddle like bootlace job [my old Dawes sure aint] but they do make road riding easier.
By the way don't bother about the taxis, they hate everybody and will cut up and try to force off the road anything that moves [I have noticed they do tend to respect artics and big dump trucks though].

Yes, what is it about taxi drivers. They all seem like they have had a frontal labobotomy as soon as they take up the profession "profession?!"
