Decathlon told me it would be the middle of may at the earliest till they got some more stock in.

Then last week I saw an ad for a secondhand trek 1000 at a good price, bought it and took it down to the lbs for a service and check over.

They serviced it and said the bike was in good condition and all it needed was a set of front brake pads which they fitted.

My first proper venture in to road biking so plenty more questions to follow.

Happy Days

If you do buy second hand go for something somebody has bought on a whim and used a couple of times. If you're buying road bikes that are a few years old, with many miles on the clock expect to replace some parts, chain, cassette, chainrings, bottom bracket. If you don't know what you're looking at then you could end up spending £100 or more on parts. Some people look after their bikes some do not, parts wear out either way. My mate bought a 2005 Trek with Ultegra, I told him a new chain will be about £30, he wasn't happy.

Best advice given..
Ive seen some very lightly used, very good bikes go on ebay, theyre the ones to go for. But the trouble is, everyone recognises it and they dont go THAT cheap.
Well used bikes with a decent groupset, easily £100 for chainrings, chain and a new cassette if they need replacing.
