Update on Carlton build. Seat post is only temporary.

UPDATE ON BUILD.

Tyres on, Hidinium stem in, front done, rear brake to do. Seat post still to do.

Not sure on wheels.

Thinking of getting some Campag Super Record large flange to go with gearing and put onto some Weimann rims I have.

Given that this Carlton is about to turn orange now it's almost fully component and paint-stripped, it's a genuine question. And in my case very carefully.

That's like the one I used to have. It will look great in orange. I do like orange bikes!

To give a serious answer to your question though, I think they use a fine brush with long bristles. Takes a very steady hand.

This method wouldn't be professional, it is usually done with masking foil. The thin strip prior to the tube sleeve is sprayed with an airbrush. Some also use a special paint pen that runs along the edge.

I used to use one of those 'lining tools' when I was a technical illustrator - only I used ink and it was called a ruling pen.

Same tool though.

Well the bike was £4 but as almost all the components, apart from wheels and stem, are new the total cost is approaching £140.

I've splashed out on a lug lining pen from eBay. I just need something to practice on first before I start on my £4 Carlton and it so happens we're picking up my son's new race bike tomorrow  . It's a bigger version of the one below - what colour should I add?
