New reply notifications not working

My usual MO here is to firstly look at the new notifications shown by the little bell at the top. For some reason there are no new notifications since 27 October, which is highly unusual as I usually see at least a couple most times I log on (which is multiple times a day).

I’ve checked my notification settings and can’t see anything obviously wrong. Is it me or the forum?

Ironically, I received my first notification in a week for this reply!

This happened for me a couple weeks ago. I logged out then back in again and its back to working fine.

There was another thread with a similar problem

people seemed to be OK if they logged out and signed in again - which requires remembering the password
but it seemed to work

I think I am actually getting more notifications than before so it might have fixed something that has been around for a while but just got worse

Same for me, notifications don't seem to be happening.

Also noticed that the "progress bar" that you get when a page is reloaded, is displaying lower down and cutting through the top row of options.

Ah, that's what it is. On my mobile it cuts through all the icons at the top of the page.

More observations....

The reply from PaulSB above, didn't get the red counter next to the bell, but clicking on the bell, the notification was there.

Marked the notification as "unread" and the red count appeared next to the bell.

I’ve logged out and in again and it seems to have fixed it (or at least I have now received at least one notification of a reply to a post I am following).

I’m getting notifications as usual now, for replies to this (and the quote above) and for new replies in watched posts.

I was referring to the little red numbers next to the bell. They seemed to have stopped for a few days, but now seemed to have returned.
