New rider

Hi everyone
I hope to meet some fellow riders in my area that would like to go out for a few rides.
I'm new to cycling so I'd be grateful for any advise on what equipment I need. Here is a little about me.
My name is Jason Cattell I'm a 38 year old male 5'9 and 16.7 stone. I live in Wolverhampton and I'm a personal trainer at Puregym on Bentley bridge. I know a bit ambitious but I want to get upto the level where I can cycle to Barmouth which I've calculated is 117 mile from here.
Anyone who would like to train with me and my Freind with some rides out would be most welcome. Thats enough of me waffling on hope to hear from you soon
