To be honest my original response to this thread was "for that price, whatever you fancy". I don't believe you could buy a poor bike for £3.5k. I know I couldn't.

Might even be fun to go custom, speak to Mercian cycles or another bespoke frame builder, and do the whole Robert Penn thing.

Turn up at the cycle show next weekend at the NEC with your shoes and some kit. There will be plenty of opportunities to try out bikes in the medium-price range.

I like them too very much, well I have to, it's all I can have at the moment. Best bike I could get for the money (4 years ago). I would love to get a new Giant Defy, a carbon model.

I'm one of them but ive never seen a TCR Advanced sl 3 , 2 , 1 or 0 . only seen two other TCR 1 advanced .

My dream bike would be a custom steel race bike in Reynolds 953 or 853 from Feather, Swallow, Rourke in my own custom colours.

Interesting, I live very close to the Swallow bikes shop... I love their Steel bikes. I am considering getting one for my n+1.
