For those who don't use Farcebook, what does it say?

Wish they would show us a map.

"The scheme will involve constructing a shared use path, around a mile long, for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders, linking Wick Lane in Wick St Lawrence to Yeo Bank Lane at Kingston Seymour" is the crux of it. It's taken forever to get that approved. If you find the end of Yeo Bank Lane, southwest of Kingston Seymour, and then draw a line southwest, crossing the river near the old railway crossing, that's basically it.

It's taken absolutely forever to get approval - various complications with the Environment Agency, fearful villagers etc. etc. as I understand it. Glad it's - finally! - happening.

This is from the planning application for the red bit shown on the map. Controversial with local residents/farmers - @Richard Fairhurst is this the route it will now adopt ?

That looks roughly as it was proposed when I was a parish councillor in Kewstoke, on the route. Controversial with local farmers but not residents of WsM. It will turn a 16 mile journey into a 4 mile journey!

It seems like a disgrace that it has taken about 45 years of campaigning by some very committed local residents, with the creation of the England Coast Path being what seems to have finally pushed it through because otherwise that would use a long stretch of fairly poor A road to reach the next nearest walkable bridge at Hewish, in sight of the M5.

"Fearful villagers" - of reckless, dangerous cyclists riding on 'their' (narrow) roads? I can see it will mean delays for farm traffic on those roads. Let's hope it happens.
For cyclists trying to get NE from Weston, they've had to go almost to Congresbury (left onto the Strawberry Line to Yatton) to cross (that) River Yeo.

Worse than that. If you aren't willing to mix it with Bristol commuters on the bog-standard two-lane cycling-hostile minimally-sharp-bend-removed-in-1940s A370, you have to head south to almost Sandford to join National 26 back to Congresbury. There is a bridleway from Puxton to Congresbury but the landowner discourages horses and cycles by dumping bags of hoof-and-wheel-busting whole bricks into its potholes and the local council seem to have given up on it, as often happened for cycling matters under Transport Cabinet Member Cllr Elfan Ap Rees. Let's hope they see the new link through!
