Mmmm - asparagus and the 1st British new potatoes of the year.

You can't beat it.

The purple sprouting brocolli and beetroot looks especially nice. :hungry:

Was it a farmers' market?

Just my local greengrocer. Actually the new pots are Italian! They did have jersey royals but for silly money. Lots of the stuff is local though. I had a mountain of PSB for dinner .

Good point about Jersey Royals - you pay a massive mark up just because they are the 1st. I prefer pink fir apple potatoes.

Great greengrocers. Im very jealous of the PSB!!
With mustard?
Yes - a smear of Dijon. Those Newmarket sausages are very nicely seasoned so you don't want to overdo it. It's all about the hot sausages wilting the watercress and melting the butter.

Haven't you got a team time trial to watch or something?
Just waiting for Eurosport to stop showing blokes falling off motorbikes. I won't trouble you much longer.
BTW, the Food Prog. on Radio 4 recently talked about how much fresher a lot of greengrocers' produce is compared with supermarkets due to the much shorter supply chain.

Quite so. The watercress is especially good. Supermarket watercress is verging on the pointless. Today's brunch is an omelette sarnie.

CP, why don't you find your local famers market?. I see tc's collection & think 'oh normal veg shop then'. Or is is the preparation?

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Call me picky, but isn't the true PSB season rather more wintry than springy?
