New (to me) hub type - what's it called, please?

My new Synapse Neo 2, had different hubs than I've seen before. Not quick release, not drop-ins.

They are this.

And this.

The fork has holes rather than space to drop in a wheel. The wheel settles between them and then a thick (maybe 8-10mm bar slides between then and screws into the opposite fork.

I can't identify the type of hub this is (it's name). While my searching is likely poor, I've run into a dead end, and I'd both like to know more, and to explore other security options.

Thank you for any clarity you can provide.

Through-axles, I'm thinking.

Thank you everyone, and apologies that my search skills failed me for what appears to have been an obvious answer. I'm grateful for the help.

It's been sone time since I bought a bike as I love both of my regular bikes. I struggle with fatique though, and so I'm hoping the ebike will give my cycling a new lease of life!

Thanks,
James

Thru-axles are largely dictated by disc brakes, which can force the wheel out of QR dropouts (even despite lawyer lips, if you don't notice the QR starting to loosen).

Make sure to grease the threaded end of the thru-axle - they have been known to seize in place.
