Afternoon all,

Hopped over to cycling after covering a lot of running and looking to eventually get myself into an ironman (target of 2017)
I recently purchased myself a Connondale Synapse Claris 2015, an entry level road bike but none the less, very happy with it so far.
So far I have found the biggest challenge, the mental argument you have with yourself when clipping my shoes into the pedals, that I am not going to just fall straight off!!
Slow and steady, just a hello at the moment!

Hello Dan, welcome to the forum. The cycling will be a lot easier on your knees than running (cycling low impact sport) nothing wrong with your choice of bike and as for clipping in try a few stop starts around the block to get used to unclipping before heading out for the big rides.

Thank you Steve, had a couple of rides around the blocks and feel ok about them now! Really looking forward to where it takes me

Prop yourself up against a wall, listen to some music and practice clipping in and out for 10 minutes..it puts that that little something into your grey matter that may or may not help when you have to do a sudden stop at an extremely busy junction...best of luck ..

If you are newish to cycling, why not use platform pedals until your balance and bike handling skills improve.

I did think about that but having purchased the shoes and the bike coming with the pedals on, I jumped into them and off I went, it was only initially that I thought it was a big step but all seems fine now, touch wood!
