New tyres or not?

Went out last saturday and had my first puncture for a couple of years.put in my spare tube(continental race 28)and away i went.
yesterday back out on my bike and again a puncture to the same wheel(front)
The bike is a giant defy 4 which i bought from new in may,so i'm still on the original stock tyres.
Having had a proper look at the tyres, they don't seem that bad, just a few indentations plus the front has a bit of a little cut in it but i can't tell if that goes right through the tyre.
Was pondering whether to get vittoria ruben tyres as they get a pretty good write up and there not to expensive but now wondering if i was just unlucky with the punctures.

Just noticed this should have gone in the components section. doh

I assume you checked the inside of your tyre for any left over sharp bits ? If that is ok you were probably just unlucky, especially the front wheel.

Yeah checked the tyre thoroughly both times.first time there was a little thorn in it, yesterday didn't find anything in the tyre but found a small hole in the tube.
God I hate punctures. :cursing:

I got two in a row with the giant defy stock tyres . Pain in the ass so switched to gatorskins and went 900 odd miles without another puncture . Now on 1230 odd miles without another one .

Hi,

Your front tyre should be much less worn than the rear and punctures indicating
tyre wear should occur in your back tyre rather than the front. You should have
looked for and removed the cause of the front puncture fitting the new tube.

Bought in May you should have loads of tyre life left in both tyres.

rgds, sreten.

No punctures since I started riding again. Both bikes fitted with decent
puncture protected tyres when bought over the stock very budget tyres.

Fast and careful!
Punctures are down to a many factors ,ride after a good storm having washed flints and small stones into the road seems to lead to the fairy puncture visiting, tyres on your giant may wear different front to back as they could be specific tyres ,front or rear ,tyre pressures always help, check tyres after ride or before, look for damage and stones etc stuck in
I blew a front on a defy within a week and then replaced both, but I can blow any tyre,
I still say luck is the the best puncture prevention ,no punctures for six months ,then new tyre and trued wheel at a service ,flat the next day, good puncture resistant tyres for the winter maybe!
I have had two Giants and changed the tyres quickly, but saying that I have changed the wheels as well

Before i went out yesterday checked both tyres and they were fully inflated and checked for debris, deflated both tyres and pumped them both up again to 120psi.
15 miles into the ride and i suddenly saw this apparition in front of me,oh no it's the blooming p******e fairy.
This time it was the rear which had a puncture, checked the tyre thoroughly(couldn't find anything)and put the new tube on.
Three punctures in a row is to many and i reckon I've done 1700 miles on these tyres since new so they have got to go.

Most will change to winter tyres in October or winter bike with winter tyres , your getting punctures because the roads are wetter and sharps tend to stick more to tyres in the wet plus this is the time of year hedgerows get cut leaving thorns everywhere , your tyres could still have hundreds of miles left in them but I would change to a more puncture proof tyre for winter.

Frustrating to say the least.
