I'm liking the referb of the wheels idea.. Do you take the wheels to them or just drive your car too them and leave it. How long would it take?

I think some can come to you and do it. I like the idea of refurbishing something rather than dumping it and buying new.

I never give refurbishing a thought till this thread.. lol I did google and there are 3 places in Kent that came up so I will go and see one of them next week, the one in Gillingham did have reviews which is always a good place to start?

So back to the new wheels for a moment.. Would £500 get me a good set of wheels or would I have to spend more ?

You'd be at the bottom end of the market for a set of new wheels for £500.
Personally, I'd look at getting them refurbished - either a good local bodyshop or specialist. Word of mouth is likely to be your best bet - Pistonheads or one of the Honda online communities might be worth a look.
Ask to see the quality of their work if you can - having the money to buy the franchise and a shiny sign written van is no guarantee of the quality of work.

My neighbour thinks along the same lines. He bought a red car but then decided he wants it in dark blue. He paid 30 grand to change the colour. That was 20 years ago.

I had a set of wheels sand blasted and poweder coated in Matt Black for £35 a wheel.

If they take the tyres off and refit £50 a wheel is a fair price.

As said, if you go up to a 17" and keep the same rolling radius/ circumference you have to lower the sidewall profile which gives a harsher ride.

Looking at new wheels go for a recognised make, OZ Racing, Speedline etc not chinese knockoffs!.

Cayman used to be dearer than Booster but with later model it's the other way round. A very fine engine and great handling. I drove a few on the race track (not very well).
