After the rim on my rear Bontrager Race (not Lite) gave up, I'm after a replacement pair. The budget doesn't stretch very far unfortunately, so those Ksyrium SLs will have to wait...

I can get a pair of Shimano WH-RS10 for £120 or WH-RS20 for £150.

Alternatively there are Mavic Aksiums for around £150.

Or, if I want a Shimano / Mavic compromise, I can get Tiagra or 105 Hubs with CXP33 or Open Sport rims for between £95 and £160…

Does anyone have any strong views or recommendations either way, or any other suggestd options?

You could get a pair for 99.99 with free delivery if you visit planet X website

edit - or you would have if you'd visited earlier as they are now sold out!

If you're getting hand builts talk to the wheel builder, sure (s)he'll build you what you ask for however they'll have a lot of experience picking rims & hubs so you may end up with a combo you'd not considered but suits you better.

After much to-ing & fro-ing I got a pair of Aksiums in the end.

I found a pair at Ribble for
£120-odd - just over £130 inc. postage, so I'm reasonably happy about that.

Let's hope they do the job ;)
