Hi All

Newbie here ^_^ not just to the forum but to cycling.....(my new bike hasn't even arrived yet).
I'm 40 now and for the past 18 years or so I have been filling my spare-time with challenges, usually throwing myself in at the deep end and as a result of my inexorable attitude I find I defy all odds or fail miserably.....either way I tend to have fun

My first major cycling challenge will be LEJOG in May 2021 and hence the main reason for me joining this forum. I have already found some amazing resources and personal stories which will help me hugely in planning for next year.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you, learning from you and hopefully adding some value to the group myself as and when I can

Please stop by and say hello!

A lot of LEJOG riders get involved in audax events as they're about learning to manage distance, pacing, re-fuelling, etc. Worth a look at https://audax.uk/ although there's no official events running yet, just routes (called 'permanents'). Quite a number will be preparing for 2021/2's London-Edinburgh-London event, which is a similar distance but done in one go: https://londonedinburghlondon.com/

:welcome: Wishing you well for your trip.
Being in N Yorks, perhaps a Coast to Coast might be in the preparation plans?

Thank you Ian and yes indeed, as early as next month all being well. I have family in Scarborough on the East Coast and in Morcambe on the West so although not the traditional C2C, it would seem the obvious choice :bicycle:

Welcome aboard!
I'm horrified by the suggestions from DCLane: I'm far too ancient and unfit, a very much part-time summer cyclist. Never been a 'fast' rider, although I did do *one* 60 mile audax as prep for Lon2Paris 5 years back.....came a resounding last with my cycling mate who graciously stayed with me (aside from one *older* couple who had a puncture and still almost caught us up!).
I too hope to be bumbling along LEJoG next year too....at a pretty leisurely pace, unlike most, I suspect!

Plenty of useful stuff in these forums, for sure :okay:

I would question just how "unfit" on the basis you are planning LEJOG! ;)
Thanks for the welcome.
