Well I have been out building up some miles on my Ribble Gran Fondo BUT this bike is seriously light and fast, in fact I'm wondering if its too fast for me as a beginner! I absolutely hate getting down in the drops as I feel as though I'm going to go straight over the bars and with the narrow wheels I just feel extremely vulnerable....any ideas??

I felt exactly the same, I had never ridden a road bike before always mounting bikes, but feel really safe now, good luck with your training then Paris - London.

Don't do the drops .

As for the wheels, i'm sure, with time you will find them reassuringly zippy.
