Approaching perfection from a distance.
Kevin, I'm not very good on the technical side either but, coincidentally, I've ridden the very same spec bike last Saturday and also today on my training runs.

Normally out on my TT bike for these short rides, but because it's been wet and windy I went with the Bianchi.

Wasn't expecting great things but have to say the Bianchi rides beautifully. Forgotten how good it feels.

Kept it In the bottom ring all the way and was really surprised how well it flew over the few hills we have in Norfolk. So no problems climbing.

Only difference is the wheels. Those Reparto Corse's are quite heavy. I've replaced them with a Planet X wheelset. Not sure what cassette - I'll take a walk down to the garage and report back!

Thanks, I have seen youtube videos from cycle companies saying the first upgrade you should get is wheels but that might be a xmas pressie

The trouble you've put me to! Couldn't count the damn teeth with the wheel still attached so had to remove it. Not to worry, the cassette needs cleaning in any case!

It's a 12-25t, same as yours; probably the original but can't remember - it's an age thing!

Hi, I have only just come across this feed, but I was just wondering if you could tell me your thoughts and experiences on your Bianchi Nirone Xenon 7. I am due to pick one up later this week, and have currently worked out that at a few mm under 6ft, and relatively long limbed, according to an online calculator, a 59cm frame would suit me best, though I'm not sure and wonder if a 57cm frame would be a better idea, I wonder which size you went for? Plus any other hints or tips as I'm fairly new to the market. Thanks, James.

I swap from an 11-25 cassette, if I know my route's going to be flat-ish, to an 11-28 if there will be hills. I don't bother changing the chain rings. The 28 tooth gives about a 20% efficiency gain, on an equivalent climb.
