Next generation in waterproof spray for clothes

This “next generation” waterproof spray for clothing is claimed to require no heat for activation, yet last for at least ten washes.

Below is BikeRadar’s report on this novel DWR, but the sceptic in me wonders if it’s too good to be true. What do you reckon? Worth a punt?

It looks interesting but if it lasts 3-4 times longer than conventional sprays and I can get conventional sprays for £2ish and it's £20 for the same size the maths don't add up. IMO it's got to perform significantly better to be worth it.

I tend to stock up on Outdoor Adventure spray when it's been on special buy at Aldi so have used it a lot. It can't perform miracles - it doesn't make a regular jersey waterproof but it does mean a lot of water beads off so takes much longer to 'wet out'. Also on GCN they talked about using it on shoes but I have had more success using ceramic coating than waterproof spray - and again you can get car ceramic coatings (unbranded) for way less.
