I am lucky that where I live they built the St Ives guided busway, which has a cycle path down the side of it. My usual journey to work by road is 17 miles, down the busway its 15.
Now as a roadie, I did last year in winter on the road bike and it was not always a fun day out, and after December, the shocking roads, drivers who cannot see even with lights on! I decided it was most sensible to get a MTB, and go down the cycle path to work, it may take a little longer but it will be a hell of a lot more pleasant.
Trek MTB here we come !
