I fancy doing some organised group rides this year. Do you have to have a certain standard of bike tho. Mines good but it's not carbon or anything
IMO any bike tends to be fine as long as it has mudguards, lights, in good working order... racing and time trial clubs tend to be the ones with specific demands on the type of bike

I have a rear mudguard that goes on the seat post but with two lights on there there's no room for the guard. It's a cannondale quick cx2 so should be ok for road rides but not for racing

If I didn't ride in the dark I wouldn't get to and from work for a fair bit of the year. Now't wrong with riding in the dark, key is to have lights you can see by if you are going into unlit areas. I feel safer on a night than in a day, there tends to be less traffic and it is easier to see cars coming towards you, plus you seem to hear the cars coming up behind you better as well.
Me neither. I may put a case to my boss for only working daylight hours in winter.
