Pedalling along happily tonight on my elongated commute home, the route took me along a single-track road. I see a car approaching and it's lights are on full beam.
[thinks: they'll dip soon when they see me]
It gets closer, and still no dipped lights.
[thinks: they'll dip soon as they MUST have seen me]
I am now getting dazzled big time, so start riding one-handed, with the other hand trying to shield my eyes from the 'bright lights'. The car (52 plate fiesta) has now stopped (albeit with full beam still on) so I gingerly carry on (one handed) towards the now stationary blinding aura.
As I get within 10 metres I stop the bike, get off and walk (still shielding my eyes) and only then at the front of the car (for maximum effect, and to cause them the most inconvenience) do I move to the left to walk past the drivers door.
[thinks: they must have seen me, but decided not to dip their lights for some reason]
I then flick my headtorch onto 'Retina Burn' setting 12, and shine it straight at the driver - a bloke in his 40's.
"Thanks for stopping, because I couldn't see a thing due to your headlights on full", I said.
His reply was inaudible due to him wheelspinning away like a lunatic???
Apart from that, a good 12 mile ride home all in.
