No, not of the chafing variety.....

Bike is only 6 weeks old and, at £1,300, should be pretty decent. On a ride today, the wheel went out of true. On inspection, a front wheel spoke had detached from the rim, the spoke nipple was rattling about in the void behind the wheel tape in the wheel itself.

Had to get an expensive taxi home so obviously I'm looking to get this reimbursed. The issue is whether this is wear and tear (ie a broken spoke/spoke nipple) or poor build quality (the spoke nipple has come loose).

Here is a photo of the spoke:

Looks to me that the nipple has unscrewed but any opinions??

Thanks

thread on spoke looks fine, so probably not a stripped thread
does the old nipple screw on to the spoke?i would contact either retailer or manufacturer
also google it to see if this is a common problem with this particular wheel set
Cheers Ed

Update - took it back to the retailer tonight (Decathlon) and they said it looks like the nipple had worked its way off. Somewhat worrying given there are plenty more spokes!

"Looks like it worked its was off " Little worrying explanation
Did you ask Him why It had it work its way off ..

Some stock wheels can be crap. I'm guessing the Stockport Decathlon. The head mechanic there is very good, and can build some good wheels. My colleague had loads of issues with his Bontrager wheels on his Madone (£3k bike) and the chap at Stockport re-built them for him - no issues since !

Oh, not usual on Khamsim's. Certainly not Mavic as they all have bladed spokes.

He will do a good job for you.
