But they look well cool...
No they don't.

To look well cool, you need jeans, a leather flight jacket & Rayban Aviators.

My Mrs likes showing me pictures from her work as a vet - The type of injuries you get from sliding along tarmac with no gloves/protection on is called, fittingly, a "De-Gloving" injury - They look bloomin' horrendous, I imagine they look worse on a human than on a spaniel though!

Don't fancy that much, makes me cringe whenever I see anyone one a motorbike without leathers on.

(I didn't ask why the spaniel was riding a motorbike)

Observe the rule: tuck and roll

Right ! The times I have come off/been knocked off pretty much it was ..........

''oh what a nice ride''......followed a few milliseconds later by...........''bugger me, I am sliding down/bouncing down/hitting the road''

Tuck and roll my arse.

I always use gloves with palm padding just to mitigate handlebar vibration.
And my hands do get cold, possibly due to the windchill factor due to riding at high speed giving me the early stages of frostbite (), or because I've inherited bad circulation from my mother...

It's all very well being ruffy-tuffy but I wear gloves because I don't fancy picking bits of gravel out of my hands and various small hand injuries in the past have shown me how much we take the full functioning of our hands for granted and how inconvenient life is when they are injured.

As for tucking and rolling, ha ha! The only times I've had bad bike falls it has happened so fast that my brain hasn't caught up with events until I've been lying on the ground wondering what went wrong.
