I saw this girl today and she did'nt have a clue how close she came to becoming another squashed stat' and "cyclist down" thread. The lorry was clearly turning left, indicators on and pulling over to the right to swing around, it had just started entering the other road and this dappy girl pedals up the inside and around the front of the lorry, who wuld not have even seen her. Instead of holding back and letting the lorry go, she had to swing around the front, even going into the other road to get ahead. See pic as easier to explain.

its not always teh drivers fault. Seen some terrible cycling lately. Of course this is ballanced out by driving and MB's.

Yup, there are utter muppets on both sides of that coin. Mostly cyclists doing stupid things like your girl example, but also occasionally impatient homicidal idiots in HGVs doing left hooks.

I stood and waited for a long HGV to reverse into a restricted space this morning. It was having significant difficulty and at times the cab was intruding unintentionally on the small footpath at the side of the road. Cue little old lady and wooden weave shopping trolley walking down the path who was oblivious to the potential danger and only stopped when I and the guy directing the lorry shouted "Nooooooooooo!"

It's not just the cyclists.

Saw something similar as a lorry was trying to turn out of a side road. The driver had to reverse to swing round a bit more to avoid a traffic island. Even as he was maneuvring (with his colleague out of the vehicle trying to hold the traffic back) several cyclists buzzed front and back of the lorry, including bouncing up on the pavement and the traffic island.

Me - I sat and waited until the lorry had sorted itself out. Just what is the tearing hurry? I assume we are all just on our work and it can't be that terribly exciting that you need to hurry??

Well I was trying to catch a train. But I'd rather be late than dead.

It's why cyclists should have to pass a test. It would save lives and remove the 'I didn't know that' excuse. And make cycling up the left of a truck an offence.

I've had a few close shaves in my time.Have you seen my films?

yes, thought your new one sucked. the first was the best.

its like RLJ's. your waiting there at the lgihts and they just go on through as if they are invisible, then you catch them up pretty quickly and overtake them, so its pointless to put your life in danger and possible have a £30 fine.
