It's why cyclists should have to pass a test. It would save lives and remove the 'I didn't know that' excuse. And make cycling up the left of a truck an offence.

Motorists have to pass a test but then set about forgetting everything that they've learned. I do not believe that being able to pass a test stops anyone acting carelessly, stupidly, dangerously or illegally at a later date.

If all cyclists knew how to avoid dangerous situations it would perhaps prevent 50 accidental deaths per year at most. But the need to pass a test would prevent many thousands of people cycling leading more congestion on the roads and public transport, worse pollution, and a lot of less fit people who will die prematurely from heart attacks and other diseases associated with lack of exercise.

Peds always have priority. Anyone who uses any type of vehicle or horse on public roads should accept this, and give way to them if necessary.

When I grew up in UK (50s) you had to pass a test -- in primary school. There was even some poor sod of a teacher who got the job of walking out from between a parked car to test our braking reflexes. Hit him and you failed!

What happened to that?

I like that idea - at least it would bring it to the attention in the news and maybe actually get throught to these stupid folk.

Out of interest did the girl in question look like she might of learned through this experience?
