Ming the Merciless is doing just that.
I'm just putting that down to writing/wording error. I immediately read it as UK wide {city/town centre} 20mph limits.
I could be wrong though and that would be down to Ming to justify.

The question was specifically for Ming but everyone can of course join in.

In Wales as you probably are aware there are 20mph limits which are now being reverted back to 30mph in some cases as there was uproar.

Think we all can see if every car/van/lorry etc only drove at 5mph then accident rates would drop off a cliff but in the real world this isn't going to happen.

I'm in favour of 20mph limits where justified. So outside schools definitely. On some of the roads where they now have them not so much. The blanket approach Welsh govt took was misguided.

Aside from it was him I was replying to? I didn't quote his post but it is blindly obvious it was reply to him seeing as very next post. Anyway.

No indication of who you were replying to. No quoted post. Just a post with a question. You could have been replying to anyone.

If you want to respond to specific person, you should always quote the post (snipping to get just the relevant part if necessary).

They didn't actually take a completely blanket approach. They gave a full year's notice from approving the legislation to implementing it, during which time councils could specify any "restricted" roads to have a different limit to the default - and many were.

Unsurprisingly, they didn't get it all right, and SOME of the roads which weren't initially exceptions are now going to be. Some councils did better than others in deciding which roads still warranted 30 or 40 limits.

Care to address that drop-off in accidents and injuries?

Good!

Now, are you for reduced speeds and accidents, or an increase in speeds and accidents?

Already said this ;

Spot on, it’d be a massive safety boost. Even more so if it stops people choosing to drive those short distances that 95% of car journeys are. A big reduction in all the harms it causes us.
