Id say that your estimate is statistically invalid. Presumably such videos are mainly shared because they feature idiots. Anecdotally, most cyclists I encounter in the wild respect the rules, but the idiots who don't make a stronger impression.

I hate to say it but the situation in London is out of control and I just fear the worst tbh, in that we will get some horrible draconian legislation because of it..

All it takes is a few serious injuries of deaths of people using the crossings.

It's sad as the growth in cycling in London, especially since the pandemic, has been something to behold.

This will only further marginalise cycling in an already cyclist-intolerant country.

It's not so much the hipsters on fixies you have to worry about, it's the people on Lime and Santander hire bikes.

I'd like to see more 'good' cyclists admonishing those who undertake bypassing on the inside. Robert Elms (on Radio London) has spoken out on this. The knobhead who did it to me on the New Cross Road was rudely unrepentant. It's a potential killer.

Er, no. Both he and I were cycling. I don't (didn't - my legs fail now) hug the kerb.
When driving it's something completely different.

But on the motor angle I once had a bus driver pull out from hazard-lights stopped straight into my way as I was overtaking. I could be a fairly speedy rider so I caught up and blocked the bus to give the driver the benefit of my opinion. Nearly got beaten up by a pedestrian passer by. It's a mad world.

If you want that, then first you should be talking to the people who write and publish the Highway Code.

You can't really admonish people for following that.

I don't think the Highway Code advocates passing on the inside, unless passing stationary vehicles?

What it actally says is:
Cyclists may pass slower moving or stationary traffic on their right or left and should proceed with caution as the driver may not be able to see you. Be careful about doing so, particularly on the approach to junctions, and especially when deciding whether it is safe to pass lorries or other large vehicles.

It doesn't actually say that the slower moving or stationary traffic should only be motor vehicles, though the word "diver" does tend to imply it.

I didnt realise from your post as it was originally that it was one cyclist overtaking another (you) on the inside. And they certainly shouldn't be doing it if it forces you to take a different line.

In my experience, granted from the 1990's when I lived and worked there, very few drivers exceed the speed limit on the Freeway. I managed to let myself get caught once on I90 - 5mph over the limit cost me $100 on the spot, payment taken via credit card by the patrolman in the breakdown lane.

Aside from being a modern day highwayman he was very pleasant and chatted quite freely once he realised I was a Brit. Not as friendly as the CMP patrolman who let me off with a stern warning

East coast or Chicago maybe, because traffic is so gridlocked. Everywhere else the cars are doing 85-90 mph and the trucks are being driven against the governor. No training or testing requirement, no requirement that car drivers be responsible adults...

Never been a fan of Tory councillors in London and this guy for ran for Police Crime Commissioner but he does have a point. His video really demonstrates the problem. Note the illegal electric unicycle thing at the end too. He has done some charity ride so he's not completely anti-cycling.

Well I rode round London today, and went past quite a few of those floating bus stops in the super highways. It was chill, everyone in control, and nothing like the video.
