I've always wanted to pubilicise the number drivers I catch and ticket for various offences.
Maybe I can have some little vinyl stickers made up depicting "kills" as in WW2 aircraft then stick them to my bike or panniers.

I use a helmet cam, however it only gets switched on arrival at jobs. Battery life and the amount of storage capcity I have means that I can't keep it on all shift.
However I may try targetting traffic whilst on patrol during rush hour, school kicking out time etc.

I think in my case I made it obvious that I didn't expect them to try and keep up (they were going a different way anyway) - it was just a bit of fun .

I looked into some of the camera/recorder packages you guys were using (or seemed to be from what little info I could find) and the battery time is supposed to be around the 2.5hour mark with an average of 4-6 hours recharging.

I can see why you'd need to switch it off

Proceeding (as they say) up narrow estate road; singled out to go past parked Transit; some numpty in a 4WD decides to overtake and squeeze past 8(!) riders with Police on their bright yellow jackets; then finds himself being pulled over by sergeant and lectured on his driving; he made excuse that there was plenty of room; sergeant asked him if he wanted to discuss it down the station; decided he had been unwise; 100 yards up road, turned into his drivesergeant remarked that he knew the address and that it was a very big, shiny, very new, very expensive, 4WD for a bloke on the dole and that it wouldn't be a bad idea to pass on the info to the local CID.

You're not a bikeability instructor in Essex are you? Sounds a very familiar story to one told to me by one of my PCSO's?
Yes, Even wearing a big Yellow jacket with POLICE on the back is not always going to get your the protection it should!

Now this is down to your Mens Rea...are you for instance deliberately intending to make yourself look like a police officer in order to fool drivers into giving you more room for the sake of your safety, then NO...Thats Impersonating a police officer. If on the other hand, you are advertising your love for a famous pop band from the last century then, you could probably get away with it for the last week of every month when "traffic" have got thier quota of points and really can't be bothered to stop you!

However I wouldn't take a chance on it if I were you!

yeah, me and maz both have one, organised by padbeat back in the C+ days. It's hard to say if it works - because I can't compare the same drivers day to day, but I think it does, sometimes.
