One I knew with an RD350LC had the side panels from a 250 fitted instead. He got nicked when a bike aware traffic cop knew that the bigger model had twin front discs and the 250 didn't.
That's the cheap 250 - 350 conversion.

The stealth conversion was to fit the barrels, pistons and oil pump from the 350 or to fit a 350 engine. Only the eagle-eyed would spot that the capacity of the engine wasn't what the side panels declared by the capacity being cast into the base of the cylinders.
